Independent Verification & Validation GPE 2B

Acting on behalf of the World Bank, the MUEHN was providing independent report on the implementation of performance based conditions between the Ministry of Education and the World Bank. The World Bank provided funding to the Ministry of education to remove Semi-illiterate teachers from the payroll and ensuring that all teachers on the payroll have at least a 'C" Certificate. Additionally, the Ministry is to ensure a continuous update of the payroll working with the Ministry of Finance, the CSA and the National Teachers Association to continue to update teachers qualification etc. The MUEHN Group through its verification team, work with all these institutions including CEOs and DEOs in the target counties to verify the information provided by the Ministry of Education. The disbursement of fund to the Ministry of Education was contingent on the report submitted by the MUEHN group.

Community needs assesment for Arcelor Mittal

The Muehn Group conducted needs assessment on-behalf on Arcelor Mittal in five communities in NImba, Bong and Grand Bassa. Arcelor Mittal as part of its corporate social responsibility is to provide support to communities in its areas of operation including Bong, Nimba and Grand Bassa. The Arecelor Mittal hired the MUEHN Group to conduct the needs assesment of these communities, three in Nimba, one in Bong, one in Bassa to identify needs in these communities to serve as a basis for addressing these needs by Arcelor Mittal. The MUEHN Group besides the community needs assessment, developed social economics maps of these communities to determine what is available in the various communities. Based on the map and the needs assesment, the MUEHN Group made some recommendations to Arcelor Mittal on the way-forward.

Baseline Studies on Gender Based Violence for Development Education Network Liberia (DEN-L)

The study looked at violence against women as part of GBV considering the definition under the United Nations Convention. The Development Education Network Education Liberia received funding from CAFOD to conduct a GBV assessment particularly violence against women in Bong, Nimba and Lofa to identify what is responsible for the continuous violence against women in these areas and to provide implementation mechanism for DEN-L to understand the issues and ways to address them. The baseline survey report provided the basis for DEN-L's implantation of the activities in the target communities.
